Longtan Flower Festival

The month-long flower season in Taoyuan now has another highlight in 2017. This time, Longtan designates Shang Lin bike path as the main exhibition zone, allowing visitors to marvel at our sea of flowers as they cycle along. All flowers along the path have already bloomed; attracting many to the location before the event even began .
This year, Longtan has integrated the most significant Hakka flare by launching the theme “beautiful flowers and moon within waters, make yourself at home”. We have integrated features including the creeks, flowers, fields, gardens and aesthetics, creating a floral landscape that is exclusive to Longtan. The sea of flowers is divided with various types of cosmos. Red, pink, white, yellow ones and purple zinnia are planted to distinguish parts of the floral sea, forming 22 stripes of rainbow colors. The majestic sea of flowers is greatly anticipated, followed by a heart-shaped flower field, a sunflower maze as well as other appeasing features. Together with crystal clear creeks and winding bicycle paths, they embody Longtan’s rustic Hakka atmosphere.

Remember Lupini

During the early days, Longtan’s Dabeikeng was designated as a pilot zone for tea garden cultivation and fertilizer application. During tea dormancy, farmers would plant Lupini as green manure to boost production volume. In order to allow the public to experience local tea village culture, the Department of Hakka Affairs, Agriculture Bureau of Taoyuan City Government and Longtan District Office planted 13 hectares of lupine at Longtan’s Dabeikeng, Sanhe and Sanshui communities and is expected to bloom in March. During the blooming period, the event “Remember Lupini” shall take place.
4 hectares of lupine have been planted in Sanshui, and it is the biggest of all creative flower fields in this event. The lupine formation spells out the words 「三水」 as well as a grinning smile, symbolizing the community’s everlasting passion. On the way to Dabeikeng are two-thousand plus tea trees that the public can stop, marvel and explore.
Dabeikeng serves as the main venue, with the communities of Sanhe and Sanshui as secondary venues, all decorated with yellow, white and sky blue lupini. By combining the beautiful tea gardens, forest, landscape art as well as fine music, Longtan has reconstructed the lupine-decorated garden atmosphere of its tea villages.
